Iranian Space Pioneer

Anousheh Ansari

Iranian electrical engineer, entrepreneur and former astronaut, Anousheh Ansari was the first female private space explorer to fly to the International Space Station. She explains the challenging journey and the determination needed to reach space after immigrating to the U.S. from Iran. She also became the first person to publish a blog from space. Current XPRIZE Foundation CEO, Anousheh Ansari captured headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer. Anousheh earned a place in history as the fourth private explorer to visit space and the first astronaut of Iranian descent.
