CORE Human Impact

A Transformative Collaboration

A partnership between CORE and Mission Reboot represents a groundbreaking effort to empower justice-impacted individuals by providing a curated selection of CORE’s library tailored towards incarcerated users.

Leveraging Mission Reboot's innovative prison tablet platform, CORE's educational and reentry-focused content reaches over 660,000 tablets nationwide, impacting an estimated 2 million male, female and juvenile incarcerated individuals annually.

Together, CORE and Mission Reboot bridge the critical gap between incarceration and reintegration, and equips incarcerated individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare for meaningful employment, navigate societal reintegration, and build a sustainable future.

This holistic approach empowers users to take control of their reentry journey while providing them with the tools to overcome systemic challenges.

The Impact

Addressing A Big Problem

Currently, over 77 million Americans, approximately 1 in 3 adults, carry an arrest or conviction record, facing significant barriers to successful reintegration into society. Justice-impacted individuals experience disproportionately high unemployment rates, currently sustained at 27%, a figure even higher than the peak unemployment rate during the Great Depression (25%). This persistent lack of economic opportunity contributes to a 42% recidivism rate within the first year of release.

One of the main challenges justice-impacted workers face is the existence of over 33,000 documented collateral consequences. These legal and regulatory restrictions limit or outright prohibit access to employment, occupational licensing, housing, education, voting rights, and other critical opportunities for upward mobility. These barriers create a cycle of marginalization that undermines personal and societal progress.

Worse, this issue is expected to grow. Projections indicate that this demographic will swell to 100 million Americans, nearly 1 in 2 working-age adults. Without targeted interventions, these systemic challenges will continue to erode opportunities for reintegration, widen inequality, and perpetuate cycles of incarceration.

Mission Reboot

The opportunity exists to deliver transformative multimedia content to prison tablets nationwide, impacting millions of incarcerated individuals annually through Mission Reboot’s innovative app. This platform serves as a vital lifeline for both incarcerated individuals and correctional staff, providing critical programming without significantly increasing staff workloads.

Mission Reboot offers a diverse library of workforce readiness and life skills content, enabling incarcerated users to acquire essential skills and plan for meaningful employment. The platform also provides tools for goal setting and progress tracking, empowering individuals to take charge of their reentry journey and prepare for a brighter future.

By including pre-release polls, Mission Reboot gathers valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of incarcerated individuals, ensuring that resources are tailored to their specific challenges. Moreover, the app fosters connectivity with family and reentry providers. It builds the critical support networks essential for successful reintegration, dramatically reduce recidivism rates, and create a pathway to lasting change.
