VOW for Girls is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to ending child marriage by empowering girls and supporting community-driven initiatives. Founded by Mabel van Oranje, VOW mobilizes individuals, brands, and the wedding industry to raise funds and awareness to prevent child marriage.
Every year, approximately 12 million girls—some as young as 8—become child brides, often resulting in the loss of education, health risks, and limited opportunities. VOW addresses this crisis by directing 100% of public donations to grassroots organizations that provide education, job training, and life skills programs, ensuring girls can shape their own futures.
By partnering with couples, wedding professionals, and brands, VOW integrates charitable giving into celebrations of love, turning these moments into a force for good. Through these efforts, VOW strives to create a world where every girl can choose love on her own terms and no child is ever a bride.
Mabel van Oranje, also known as Princess Mabel van Oranje-Nassau, is a Dutch human rights activist and social entrepreneur dedicated to advancing equality, freedom, and justice globally. Throughout her career, Mabel has been instrumental in founding and leading several impactful organizations. In 1995, she co-founded War Child Netherlands, focusing on supporting children affected by conflict. She later served as the first CEO of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights.
A significant part of her work has been dedicated to ending child marriage. Mabel played a catalytic role in the global movement to end child marriage, including the creation and growth of Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage, the Girls First Fund, and VOW for Girls.
In recognition of her efforts, Mabel has received numerous accolades, including being named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Mabel has utilized her diverse skills to champion various social causes, and continues to serve on various advisory boards and remains a prominent figure in advocating for the rights and empowerment of girls and women worldwide.
