Turning Observation Into Action
CORE+ and Sebastian Copeland Bring an Interactive Climate Experience to Switzerland
CORE+, in collaboration with Sebastian Copeland, is introducing a new kind of exhibition that moves beyond observation and into participation.
With an opening on April 11, 2026 at the IPFO Museum - Haus der Fotografie and running through July 19, Greenland: The Last Generation on Ice presents Copeland’s photography of the polar regions with a clear and timely focus: increasing awareness around the fragility of Earth’s ice landscapes and the urgency of environmental change.
Copeland’s work has long captured the stark beauty and vulnerability of the polar regions. Vast ??? landscapes, shifting ice, and remote terrain are presented not just as imagery, but as evidence of a rapidly changing world. The exhibition centers on a simple but urgent idea: we are witnessing a generation of ice that may not exist for much longer.
CORE+ builds on this foundation by extending the experience beyond viewing. Rather than moving passively through the gallery, visitors are invited to engage, interpret, and respond.
Through CORE+, the experience expands beyond a traditional photography display. Visitors are not just viewing the work; they are actively engaging with it. Inside the museum, guests are invited to create their own drawings inspired by what they see. These drawings are then scanned and transformed into short animations using CORE+ technology.
This process is simple but effective. It encourages people of all ages to interpret the work in their own way, creating a more personal connection to the subject matter. It also shifts the experience from passive viewing to active participation, which is critical when the goal is awareness and long-term impact.
Beyond the physical exhibition, CORE+ introduces interactive, AI-powered modules designed to extend the reach of Copeland’s work. These modules make the content adaptable across different age groups, languages, and cultural contexts, ensuring the message is not limited to a single audience.
Why This Collaboration Matters
The collaboration between CORE+ and Copeland is grounded in a shared intention to make environmental awareness more tangible and more human.
Climate change can often feel distant or abstract. Copeland’s work brings climate change into visual focus, while CORE+ makes the experience tangible. Together, they create an experience that doesn’t just inform but invites reflection and response.
The result is a more inclusive and scalable model for storytelling that prioritizes education, accessibility, and community involvement. This exhibition is also a clear example of how technology can be used to support human connection. By encouraging creativity and participation, CORE+ creates a shared experience that brings people closer to the subject and to each other.
Ultimately, Greenland: The Last Generation on Ice is about more than photography. It is about engaging communities in a global conversation and creating space for individuals to connect with an issue that affects everyone.
