Muga

When She Stops Flowing, So Will We

In the heart of Catalonia, Spain, a transformation is taking place. Muga follows the Pioneers of Our Time Foundation and a diverse network of local residents, scientists, and international visionaries as they work to restore an entire valley in Catalonia at risk of disappearing.

Once sustained by the Muga River, this land now faces drought, aging communities, and vanishing biodiversity. Through collaboration and regenerative innovation across 100,000 hectares and 68 communities, the movement is reimagining how people and nature can thrive together, reviving not just the land, but a way of life.

The Pioneers of Our Time Foundation

Regenerating Catalonia’s Muga Valley

The Pioneers of Our Time Foundation is a Catalonia-based nonprofit dedicated to developing a regenerative operating system for humanity — one that restores balance between people, nature, and the economy. Centered in the Muga Valley in the Spanish Pyrenees, the Foundation transforms 100,000 hectares into a living model for regeneration, where science, community, and innovation converge. Through initiatives in forest and river restoration, biodiversity recovery, and circular economy practices, the Foundation demonstrates how local action can create global insight. Its work in the Muga Valley serves as both a practical and symbolic blueprint for how landscapes and communities can thrive in harmony. Click here to learn more.

The Home in the Valley

Tucked deep in the Spanish Pyrenees, The Home in the Valley is more than a destination, it’s a living environment where the principles of regeneration are experienced every day. Spread across 251 hectares of restored landscapes, it serves as both sanctuary and catalyst, inviting visionaries, scientists, artists, and pioneers from around the world to reconnect with nature and reimagine the systems that sustain life.

Within this space, The Pioneers, a diverse group of thinkers and doers, are shaping new ways of living and working in balance with the Earth. Their work spans ecological restoration, circular design, and social innovation, weaving together ancient wisdom and modern science into tangible action.

The valley has become a meeting point for imagination and impact: where meals are grown on the land, where mountain-spring water nourishes every moment, and where the quiet of nature inspires profound clarity. Together, the Home and its Pioneers are demonstrating how regeneration begins with people, and radiates outward into the communities and landscapes they touch. Learn more.
